VDISMR is working for mentally retarted since 1973. In past years, about 8200 students have been benefited from the various services offered by the institute like early detection, intervention, training, education, remedial- training, vocational rehabilitation, Job placements etc. Presently more than 500 students are taking benefits of various services. The scientific and systematic training at VDISMR grooms the children to reach higher levels of expertise in Singing, Dancing and various other activities. This ultimately helps them to become Self-Confident & self-reliant.

• Arranging group teaching for parents and grass root worker.
• Awareness programmes in normal school and colleges.
• Organizing exhibition cum sale of the articles prepared by these children.
• Organizing educational exhibition in various aspects of special children.
• Guiding and supporting the person interested to start new school at various places.
• Counseling and guiding the parents where such facilities are not available.

Many of these children come from economically backward classes. Only a part of the costs/expenses are covered through government grants and recovered from the biological parents. Besides additional resources are required for specialized skills development and training. Your timely help will ensure that they have a brighter future.
